Devlog Week10: Final Touches


Programming

Sounds: Newly added to the scene are sounds. 10 sounds have been added to things around the level.

  • Thunder, Storm sound, player who attacks, player who takes damage, player who is running, player who fell into the water, the ocean, a musictrack, crab that dies and, last but not least, when you collect food.

Animations: 2 new animations have entered the scene.

  •  God that is struggling to release himself with the chains and an animation for when the crab spawns.

Particles: 4 new particles have been added.

  •  Health regeneration, player who got struck by the lightning, a particle for the player when he's walking and a particle for when the crab dies.

Decals: New to the scene are decals (2 of them)

  • When a player dies a pool of blood shows and when the lightning struck you can see scorched earth.

Mechanics:

  •  When a player takes damage, haptic feedback will be given.
  • Arrow pointer (to select a player you want to connect with) now changes color to the player you've selected.
  • Easter egg is on the island. When going to a certain place the game credits will popup in the left top corner.
  • We remade the current point system into a bar

Fixes:

  •  The animation of the crab attacking were not accurate (When taking damage, the crab's arm wouldn't hit you). This is now nice and accurate.
  • Crabs don't attack instantly anymore. (Which wasn't really something wrong, but we changed it). 
  •  A new net model with different placed joints is now being used. (The joints were not on the correct position which gave weird artifacts)
  • A second check is now in place to make sure players won't move outside the screen even when the camera is zooming in




Art

With the end of this week, we added so small but necessary changes. But we already came a long way!


All the UI elements


We added some decals for the events that can happen in the game


Also some new models that populate the scene to get some fire particles

All the necessary sounds have been added.



The water got polished a bit by adding a subtle and stylized wave effect near the cliffs, adding a more dynamic feel to the scene.

Some effects, like lightning, have additional particles to reflect events


On death, the crab will explode into pieces, leaving behind only a slimey stain



A new version of the God animation has been added.


But most importantly, one final animation to finish them all! Yippy!!!
