Devlog Week05: End of Production Phase 1


Mechanics/Programming: 

Added mechanics are: 

  • Players:
    • Players are able to connect to up to 2 players. They can select the player they want to connect to using the right stick and pressing the x button. Disconnecting happens to all connected players, a player is connected to by pressing  the y button.
    • Player can now die and respawn.
  • Player-UI:
    • Players have their own HUD, that gives more info: their name, the player they want to connect to and their health

  • Enemies: 
    • Crabs are running around all over the map, walking paths in different shapes and forms. When you come too close to a crab, he'll follow you until death (either his or yours).
  • Enemy-UI:
    • Enemies have a HUD, that displays their health.


  • weapons
    • You  can  once again pick up weapons that are scattered aroun the level
    • But now you can only hold 1 at a time so no more hoarding all the weapons
    • And ofcourse you can drop the weapon again
  • Lightning
    • After the timer runs out lightning will begin to strike random places in the level.


Art

While working on the level, we encountered some technical problems. In the end we manage to create the foundation for our level. 

We  first created some simple prefabs of all the assets we made last week to be used more easily in the level.


We also created characters for the players:

With these steps in place, we will work to improve our level even further for next week. 


next up for the level:

  • Improving the water shader
  • improving the material for the land
  • setdressing with all the ohter available assets
  • focussing on lighting
  • adding some additional assets (food, bridges ect)
  • creating the background cliffs
